MUSEO CASA FRABBONI
SAN PIETRO IN CASALE
Via Matteotti 137
The Casa Frabboni’s museum was born thanks to the donation made by the partisan and painter Natale Guido Frabboni and his wife Ivana Cesari, who gave their house to the community of San Pietro in Casale, with the clear request of changing it into a creative space open to everyone. The building was originally at the end of the barn of a Villa that dominates the landscape of San Pietro in Casale, and it was surrounded by a rich vegetation of exedra and old trees. Frabboni began from this structure in order to build, with recycled material, a new two-storey house with an atelier in the attic, which were partially destroyed during the restoration works. The restoration works allowed to recover a part of the barn, a part of a colonnade with strong architectonical importance and the beautiful sinopias and engravings on the external walls.
The museum opened officially in December 2013. The house now hosts an exhibition area dedicated to temporary exhibitions and a central core that is the Museum of the City of San Pietro in Casale. A section of the museum is totally dedicated to Natale Guido Frabboni, thanks to the donation of 200 works by Frabboni himself. During the opening day of this section there was a monographic conference about the artist born in Paris and about the ideological and poetic interpretation of its artistic production. Another section of the museum is dedicated to the artist Raimondo Rimondi, born in San Pietro in Casale, a post-surrealist painter and sculptor. In the other exhibition areas, you can also find an alternation of other artists born in the region. A section dedicated to the photographic archive of the city is actually in progress.
